Question accordingly agreed to. That provision may be made for and in connection with increasing the rates of insurance premium tax. Question put, 28 Jun 2010 NO
I thought that the right hon. Lady was going to do better than that. We have relinked pensions to earnings after 13 years. She failed to answer the question from my right hon. Friend the Work and Pensions Secretary earlier about the uprating she had planned, which was less than ours even in the second year. This is a Budget for responsibility, it is a Budget for freedom and it is a Budget for fair... 28 Jun 2010 NO

Will the right hon. Gentleman answer the query I posed in my contribution and tell us whether the money hitherto allocated to RDAs will follow through to the local economic partnerships? We do believe that there are efficiencies to be made because of the very high overhead costs of RDAs. Government Members are committed to saving public money, and I have to say that one way in which we will do so ... 16 Jun 2010 AYE
Question accordingly negatived. It being after 9.30 pm, the Speaker put the remaining Questions (Order, this day), Amendment proposed to motion 2: (b), in paragraph 3, leave out "Session" and insert "Parliament".- [Mr Allen.] 15 Jun 2010 AYE
The hon. Member for Nottingham North (Mr Allen) made the point that the Wright Committee suggested having an added Speaker's Member on Select Committees. Unfortunately, the Committee did not make that a recommendation; I wish that it had, because it would have made our life a little easier when dealing with this difficult problem. To recap, we will not move motion 13. We will accept amendment (a) ... 15 Jun 2010 NO
I was a poacher before that. That might be the case, but several hon. Members will remember that when my hon. Friend was a Whip, he took quite a hard line on such issues. Given the limited time that is being allocated to the main debate, does he agree that there is a danger that some of the motions will not even be debated? It is very unfair of my hon. Friend to raise my history. I am a recovering... 15 Jun 2010 NO

Lest we do not have time for a Third Reading debate, perhaps I can trespass upon your time, Mr. Deputy Speaker, to wish the Minister, as I did in Committee, every good fortune for the future. I am delighted to have the opportunity to do so on the Floor of the House. I have enjoyed being her shadow and hope that I am able to enjoy being a substance in due course. Whatever happens, we wish her well ... 8 Apr 2010 NO
I feel strongly that we are moving into a new phase of politics, with all the Facebooks, Twitters and the rest. The question of disconnection remains important, but I congratulate my hon. and learned Friend the Member for Beaconsfield (Mr. Grieve) on the extent to which we have made progress in removing some of the more objectionable things from the Bill. I just do not think that that has gone far... 8 Apr 2010 AYE

The introduction of pre-legislative scrutiny has also added to work loads. However, it has made a lot of legislation a great deal better and I welcome it. I welcome the fact that four out of five draft Bills that received pre-legislative scrutiny in the 2008-09 Session were introduced. There are also private Members' Bills, which in some cases allow Members to bring their own policies into law. I ... 7 Apr 2010 AYE
"subordinate legislation" has the same meaning as in the Interpretation Act 1978. (13) In the application of this section to Scotland- "costs" means expenses; "injunction" means interdict.'.- (Mr. Timms.) Brought up, and added to the Bill. 7 Apr 2010 AYE
I refer the Committee to the comments that I made a few moments ago regarding my concern about the time scale, which was why I tabled the amendments. I look forward to the Minister's response. Taking my cue from the hon. Gentleman, I refer him to the remarks that I made a few moments ago, which I hope he found reassuring. In the light of that reassurance, I beg to ask leave to withdraw the amendme... 7 Apr 2010 AYE

Difficult decisions will be demanded of us, but we will approach that challenge determined to protect vital front-line services-in health, education and police numbers-while we bring borrowing down. Because we blunted the force of the recession, our tax receipts are better than expected. Borrowing this year is £11 billion lower, but our plan to halve the deficit will continue at the same pace. I hope the Bill can now pass. With leave of the House, Mr. Deputy Speaker, I shall reply quickly to the hon. Members for North-West Norfolk (Mr. Bellingham) and for Somerton and Frome (Mr. Heath). I accept everything that the Minister is saying, but EC regulation 1107/2006 is being reviewed. Is that not an opportunity to use the regulation itself, or an addendum to it, to make it absolutely clear that airlines are expected to allow people to bring on board their own personal oxygen cylinders or concentrators for use in the cabin? Surely that is an issue that can be cleared up this year. My ... 17 Mar 2010 AYE
