I was astonished to hear the Financial Secretary say he thinks that the regulation of financial derivatives in the last financial crisis was adequate, since it seems to me to be clear that that was not so. This has been one of the most thoughtful, high quality and rewarding debates I have taken part in, or heard, in the House for a very long time, and we must thank the Backbench Business Committee...
